Perplexed by perplex

The card Perplex has a transmute ability which allows you to search your library for a card with the same cmc as Perplex.

My question regarding this is can i get any card with 3 mana cost of any combination or does it have to be the same combination as Perplex?

"Converted mana cost" is a number. It has no colors or symbols.

You find a card with CMC 3. The colors or symbols in the cost don't matter.
