Pack Rat Scenario?
Asked by jamboski 11 years ago
I'll try and make this quick and simple.
No creatures out, I have 4 black mana free to tap and 2 [pack rat]] in hand. If i play them...does the 1st come into play as a 1/1, then the 2nd come into play as a 2/2...which then makes the 1st a 2/2 also?
Then if i wanted to discard 2 cards straight away to create copies of each of the Pack Rat ...what would i be left with in play.
Hope this is easy to understand and appreciate and help on this.
Cheers!
also, i have just realized that for me to discard 2 cards i would also need an extra 6 mana....So lets say I have 10 to start. Thanks!

Pack Rat 's P/T is determined by a characteristic-defining ability that instantly updates the relevant values whenever the game state changes.
Your first Pack Rat will enter as a 1/1.
When you play a second Pack Rat , it and all other Pack Rat s will be 2/2.
When you make a token copy of Pack Rat , it and all other Pack Rat s will be 3/3.
When you make a second token copy of Pack Rat , it and all other Pack Rat s will be 4/4.

Pack Rat's P/T are defined by what's called a "characteristic-defining ability" (CDA), and CDAs constantly update. At any given time the P/T of each of your Pack Rats will be equal to the current number of Rats you control, regardless of the details on how you came to control them. For example, part of the reason why Mutavault is played in Mono-Black Devotion is because animating it will immediately make Pack Rat bigger (because now you control one more Rat).

You'd get 4 4/4 rats. The P/T of Pack Rat constantly updates itself.
