Pack Rat power an toughness question

Asked by tristen21 8 years ago

i have a total of 3 pack rats on my field and that makes them all 3/3, i declared an attack and my opponent blocked with 2 2/2 creatures. 1. how is the damaged assigned with this?2. will my rats survive?3. will he get a 3 direct damage?

I'm not sure what your question is, as not everything is quite clear. Let me try to cover the possibilities, though:

  1. If you attacked with, say, 2 Rats and your opponent blocked a single Pack Rat with 2 2/2 creatures, you first get to decide on damage assignment (meaning you choose the order of creatures you'll deal damage to, because a creature of yours deals combat damage to multiple creatures), then your 3/3 Pack Rat and one of their 2/2s will die. Because combat damage is dealt at the same time, your other Pack Rat will still be 3/3 at the time damage is dealt, and your opponent will be dealt 3 damage.
  2. If you attacked with 2 Rats and your opponent blocked each Rat with one 2/2 instead, your Rats will survive with 2 damage marked on them, your opponent's 2/2s will be destroyed, but your opponent won't be dealt any damage.

i'm sorry if it's confusing, let me rephrase my question.if i have 3 pack rats and attacked all of them, then my opponent blocked 2 of my rats with a 3/3 and a 2/2. what will happen during combat damaged?

So you declare all three of your Pack Rats as attackers.

Pack rat A is blocked by a 3/3.

Pack Rat B is blocked by a 2/2.

Pack Rat C is unblocked.

All damage is dealt simultaneously, so your opponent will take three damage, Pack Rat A will have 3 damage marked on it and Pack Rat B will have 2 damage marked on it.

Pack Rat A will die to due having damage marked on it equal or greater than its toughness. Now Pack Rat B and Pack Rat C are 2/2. Now Pack Rat B dies due to 2 damage marked on it, making Pack Rat C a 1/1.

Your opponents creatures both die.
