narset, enlightened master and combat tricks
Asked by Chameleon25 9 years ago
When I attack with Narset, enlightened master is it correct to assume that her ability will go off and any instants i get from the four exiled cards from the top of my library ill be able to use before blockers are declared? for example:
Step One. I attack with narset
Step Two. I exile four cards from the top of my deck, one of those cards is crippling chill and another is jace's ingenuity.
Step Three. i can then play both. tap a creature before its a declared blocker and then draw 4 cards.
Step Four. Use any other instant before any blockers are declared.
Step Five. Play anything I have mana for and then move to declare blockers phase
Is that the correct way to play that out??!

Please link all cards relevant to your question:
Narset, Enlightened Master
Crippling Chill
Jace's Ingenuity
And yes, you could do what you described.
More accurately: Narset's ability triggers after you decided who to attack with. The four cards you exile can be cast as long as they are noncreature cards, but any timing restrictions are unchanged. Therefore, you can cast instants exiled with her ability as soon as her own ability resolved, really, because that's the next time you'll have priority (that is still in the Declare Attackers step). After the Declare Blockers step, you have an additional opportunity to cast those instants before combat damage, if that should be relevant.
