Myojin of Life's Web Divinity Counter Comes into Play?
Asked by Jeskejo 8 years ago
Myojin of Life's Web divinity counter can only be played if it was summoned from your hand, but what if Myojin of Life's Web is your commander does the Divinity Counter still come into play even though you didn't summon it from your hand?

Please link all cards in your questions. Myojin of Life's Web, and the other 4 Myojins, too, all specifically say you must cast (not summon, this isn't Yu-Gi-Oh!) them from your hand in order to get the divinity counter. Unlike some things in Magic, this is actually extremely straightforward. Your Command Zone is not your hand, so it will not enter with a divinity counter if you cast it from there. Hope this helped!

Please link cards when you can; there's a style guide at the bottom of the page I believe. Like so: Myojin of Life's Web
There's actually an official Oracle ruling on this:
7/1/2013 - In a Commander game where this card is your commander, casting it from the Command zone does not count as casting it from your hand.
You can see it yourself on the Gatherer here.
