Mogis, God of Slaughter two headed giant question
Asked by harrydemon117 11 years ago
Mogis, God of slaughter says: "At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, Mogis deals 2 damage to that player unless he or she sacrifices a creature"
In a two headed giant game, would each player have to sacrifice a creature to prevent 2 damage to EACH of them, or just sac one creature for the team as they share an upkeep?

Thought I would step in and correct this. Because Mogis, God of Slaughter reads "at the beginning of each players upkeep" it will trigger twice. It is all in the wording here. This can also be found (along with examples) in the official 2HG FAQ Sean WagnerDCI Level 1 Judge

It actually says "at the beginning of each OPPONENT'S upkeep" and not player. If it said player then it would trigger twice but since it says opponent (and you only have one because it's a team) he only triggers once

Look at the second gatherer ruling for Sheoldred. It should answer this question handily. You get two triggers.

Hmm interesting. I guess Rhadamanthus could be wrong on this one

You're right. I just didn't put enough thought into it, I guess. Sorry about that.

It's ok! I'm just glad we got to the right answer before the card was released. Now I can go back to the drawing board of using him in two headed giant lol

Mogis triggers at the beginning of an opponent's upkeep, and even though you have two opponents in a 2HG game they only have one upkeep step. Mogis triggers one time.
