Modular and undying

Asked by trgoose 13 years ago

Yay another undying question lol. Ok so i have "Mike" in play and an arcbound dies. Do the modular counters get moved before undying is checked?

Note that Modular doesn't move counters from the dying creature to another artifact creature, it counts the number of counters on the dying creature and gives the same number of counters to another artifact creature. If the Modular creature had +1/+1 counters on it when it died, Undying won't trigger.

Modular rules text states that once the creature is put into the graveyard, then the modular effect takes the counters off. Since it technically has to hit the graveyard while the counters are on it, the Undying won't trigger. It will see the counters and say NOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE.

No.

If Arcbound RavagerMTG Card: Arcbound Ravager has +1/+1 counters on it before it dies, it never exists on the battlefield without them. When it hits the graveyard, you then put the amount of +1/+1 counters it had on it on target creature.

If it has undying, it will not return to the battlefield because the last known information of Arcbound RavagerMTG Card: Arcbound Ravager had +1/+1 counters on it, regardless of how you order the two triggered abilities when it dies.
