Mishra

Hey I have a Mishra commander deck. Just want to see why I have seen two sides to this arguement.

Mishra is on the field. Play an artifact.Mishras ability on stack.Opponent let's Mishra ability resolve. Then opponent counters artifact.

So when people say it gets around counters. It doesn't if they do it this way right. So why is there people saying it does work.

I'll tell you, it took a lot of editing to get this reply to where I needed it. This was a head scratcher. Mostly cuz I had difficulty trying to understand what you wanted to know lol. Good times...

Anyway!

If they were to counter the artifact whilst it being on the stack- with the trigger placed before the actual spell- then the artifact would be in the graveyard by the time Mishras ability resolves, meaning the countered artifact ends up being reanimated, thereby getting around the counter.

That doesn't work out in their favor, which is why they always counter the spell after the mishra's ability resolves.

However you as a Planeswalker have control over which of your spells and abilities go onto the stack, so you can decide if mishra's ability resolves first or not. You will always put the artifact first on the stack. They cannot take priority and re-order the stack as they see fit, unless they control the abilities being re-ordered.

Make sense?

That's not quite right while you do get to order things you put on the stack that doesn't apply to this.

Mishra, Artificer Prodigy requires the spell to be cast for his ability to trigger. When you cast a spell it immediately goes on the stack then mishra would trigger and his ability would go on the stack.

So if a player is smart they will always counter the artifact after the ability resolves netting you nothing with the same name to find.

Though he does work with Blood Funnel and Possibility Storm

Thanks guys,

And yes I knew it worked with those cards. And it does work with ice caves too and a few others.
