Mikaeus, the Lunarch

Asked by FraxinW 7 years ago

So can i use a card like Spinal Parasite to take a counter off Mikaeus, therefore triggering his ability without having to tap him. Essentially is tapping him required for it to happen or can it happen just from a counter being removed? Also the i ask is becuase if i can tap him to add a counter and remove a counter to trigger him from other cards, then he becomes powerful. I know their are untap cards but just a sneak attack version of doing it lol. That is.....if that would actually work.

Mikaeus, the Lunarch's abilities are not triggers. If you want to activate his ability, you must manually pay the cost written and declare you are activating his ability. In other words, tap it and remove a +1/+1 counter by its own effect.

Removing counters by effects does not trigger Mikaeus, because Mikaeus does not have any triggered abilities.
