May I keep my copied creature (using Felhide Spiritbinder) by casting Cloudshift?

Asked by AdrianMagic 9 years ago

I had the idea of copying creatures using Felhide Spiritbinder and cast Cloudshift on the copied creature. Will that copy become permanent or not?

It won't, in fact it won't even return to the battlefield. Tokens can only exist on the battlefield; if they somehow leave the battlefield they cease to exist, even if an effect would bring them back right away (like Cloudshift).

Here's the relevant rule:

  • 110.5g A token that has left the battlefield cant move to another zone or come back onto thebattlefield. If such a token would change zones, it remains in its current zone instead. It ceasesto exist the next time state-based actions are checked

Alright, thank you. Didn't think about that rule. :)
