Masterful Ninja and Phasing

Asked by chosenone124 6 years ago

I reveal Masterful Ninja from my hand and attack with it. My opponent Reality Ripples it. Can I cast it again since it is still in my hand?

To be clear, I activate its first ability to make sure it is on both the battlefield and my hand.

I'd say it's treated as a card in your hand and a permanent on the battefield that doesn't exist. So it won't deal damage, can't be discarded or card, etc. The reason being that it interacts with any effects as if it were in that zone (hand/battlefield).
You can remove it (kill/exile), you can target it with spells, but you can't bounce it back to the player's hand, since it's already there. Phasing however, doesn't change the zone, so it would still be on the battlefield and in your hand.
I have no reason to think it wouldn't affect both zones.

Then again, this is a guess ;)

Because it's a permanent on the battlefield, it can have the phased-out status. It stands to reason that a silver-bordered game would allow the "this doesn't exist" concept to apply to how the card is treated for being in your hand. This would mean it can't be chosen for any effect (including discards), doesn't count towards your maximum hand size, and can't be cast.
