Mana Web - what happens to land tapped by it?

Asked by Sudain 13 years ago

If my foe has one type of land(plains for example) and taps one plains for mana, then the rest will be tapped in reaction.

When they are tapped like that does my foe get mana for each tapped land? I am guessing no, otherwie it severly limits the effectiveness of the card.

No, but he can tap his other lands for mana in response to Mana Web triggering.

If your opponent taps the land for mana before Mana Web 's trigger resolves, then the mana will be added to their mana pool. If a land becomes tapped through Mana Web's effect, then they will not be able to produce any mana from it.

Oracle rulings on Mana Web:

4/1/2008: The lands that are tapped by Mana Webs ability dont produce mana as a result.

4/1/2008: The opponent can tap his or her lands for mana in response to Mana Webs ability triggering.

in effect it limits the player to only playing mana for spells and abilitys to one phase in a turn cicle

in the old days people would tap there lands vairy carfuly around this card because of mana burn

but because they for some reason go rid of mana burn for who knows why

anyone taping a land for mana will tap the rest of there lands in responce for mana makeing this card a lot less usefull

they should bring back mana burn

Pfft.. xxxxxxCronoxxxxxx... Mana burn did very little for the game but confuse people. While you're at it they should bring back damage being on the stack so Brindle Boar gets better.

Rules change, we've just gotta deal with it. Just because some cards lose or gain use does not mean a rule should be changed.
