Lightning strike planesalker?

Asked by OrzhovExtort 11 years ago

If I cast Lightning Strike and target my opponent and then redirect to a planeswalker can I still do that? and if I can than can I use Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord ability and do the same thing with his effect?????

No you cannot. Life loss is not equal to direct damage. Only direct damage can be redirected. Since Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord 's ability specifically says "loses life", they aren't taking damage per se, which cannot be redirected.

Yes, you can redirect the Lightning Strike to a planeswalker after targeting that planeswalker's controller (as long as that player is your opponent). In fact, that is the only way to deal noncombat damage to planeswalkers with cards which don't specifically say that they deal damage to planeswalkers, like Magmaquake .

As acbooster said, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord causes loss of life, not damage. Loss of life cannot be redirected to planeswalkers.
