Land Swapping interactions via Political Trickery
Asked by UniqueUserID 9 years ago
Both Political Trickery and Vedalken Plotter allow the player to swap/trade a land for land. However I'm a bit uncertain about a few interactions, mind stepping me through it one at a time?
1) Do lands such as Cloudcrest Lake "remember" to stay tapped when swapped? I'm assuming this penalty just passes over to the new controller, so on trading lands it will not tap on THEIR first upkeep. It doesn't care who tapped it does it?
2) Using Rainbow Vale to cast Vedalken Plotter can allow me to steal a land for a land I had to give regardless at end of turn?
3) I can "destroy" land by trading legendary lands such as Tolaria? E.g- Swap one Tolaria then next turn play another Tolaria and trade it once more. They now must destroy one of their Tolaria's?

"Your" refers to the controller of the ability at the time it resolved. If you activate Cloudcrest Lake's second ability and trade it to your opponent, it will untap as normal during their next untap step.
Yes, that's fine. If you activate Rainbow Vale and then trade it away, you'll choose one of your opponents to gain control of it at end of turn (it can be the same opponent you traded it to).
Yes, that also works. If you make your opponent gain control of 2 copies of Tolaria then the Legend Rule will take effect and they'll have to get rid of one of them.
