Kiora, Master of the Depths's emblem puts infinite tokens???

Asked by Fizzz 9 years ago

Hello,

If I am reading this emblem correctly, would it put infinite tokens due to not specifying the "non token" clause?

The emblem reads: "Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, you may have it fight target creature." Then put three 8/8 blue octopus creature tokens onto the battlefield.

So if I put a creature, my emblem triggers. Then it fights. Then I put 3 octopus tokens. If those tokens are coming into the battlefield as a part of the resolution, would them trigger the emblem as well?

Am I missing something here?

The three 8/8 blue octopus are part of the ultimate ability resolving. It's not on the emblem itself. The emblem only says "Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, you may have it fight target creature." So you only get them that one time.

You'Re missing that the three tokens are created by the activation of Kiora's ultimate, not the emblem. That means you'll get the tokens every time you activate her ultimate, not every time the emblem triggers. The quotation marks are an indicator for that.

Ok, but since it is in order of the emblem first, do the 3 octopus get to fight when entering the battlefield?

spartan1780 Yes, the emblem gets put into play then octopus enter after that. So those triggers will be added to the stack once the ultimate is finished resolving.
