Is Equip considered as an ability?

It's for Frost Walker's effect. If I use Equip on him with any artifact, in example Heart-Piercer Bow. His ability will trigger right?

Yes. Equip targets, and it is an ability. Frost Walker dies. (Before the equipment attaches even, actually.)
