In what order to effects activate at the beginning of a player's upkeep?

For example, if I had 15 life, and I was enchanted with a Curse of the Pierced Heart and there was a Havoc Festival in play, would I have 6 or 7 life after both effects resolved, and how would I determine that?

When multiple triggered abilities trigger simultaneously, they are put onto the stack in APNAP order. If one player controls two or more of these abilities, that player chooses the order in which they are stacked.

Since it is your upkeep, both Curse of the Pierced Heart and Havoc Festival have abilities that will trigger. If the Havoc Festival is yours, then the stack order will be Havoc Festival first, then Curse of the Pierced Heart on top. Then, the Curse of the Pierced Heart 's ability will resolve and drop you to 14 life. Havoc Festival will then drop you to 7 life.

If your opponent controls both Curse of the Pierced Heart and Havoc Festival , he or she may choose the order in which they are placed onto the stack. If he or she chooses to place Curse of the Pierced Heart 's ability first, then Havoc Festival 's ability on top, then you will drop to 7 life, then to 6.

Whenever multiple triggered abilities would be put onto the stack at the same time, the active player puts the ones he controls on the stack in the order of his choice, then the non-active player puts his on the stack on top of those in the order of his choice (in a game with more than 2 players, this process goes around the table in turn order, starting with the active player).

The end result is that the triggers controlled by the non-active player will resolve first. If one player controls both of the cards in your example, then it's up to him, since he gets to order them. If they're controlled by different players, then it depends on who's active and who's non-active.
