If I move an equipment from one creature to another do both creatures have it's abilities?

Asked by CdotPulpo 10 years ago

During an edh game I was told that if I paid the equip cost for a swiftfoot boots to attach it to a creature, then pay the cost again to move it to another creature. Both creatures will have haste and hexproof until end of turn. But only the creature that has the equipment attached to it will continue to have the abilities. Is this true?

No Swiftfoot Boots clearly states "creatures that this has equipped before have hexproof and haste". It doesn't say " creatures that this has equipped this turn have hexproof and haste". So whoever told you that is wrong.

Swiftfoot Boots

Cards do only what they say, no more, no less. Swiftfoot Boots only says "Equipped creature has hexproof and haste." That means that only the creature that is currently equipped by Swiftfoot Boots has those abilities. Nothing about this ability states "until end of turn" or that it could apply to multiple creatures simultaneously.
