How does scavenging ooze ability work?

I'm just wondering do you exile the top card of either graveyard or search the graveyard?
Rhadamanthus Is the life gain activated ONLY when a creature is exiled (like the +1)?

Yes, it's all part of the same instruction. Scavenging Ooze only grows if you exiled a creature card and it also only gives you life if you exiled a creature card.
In the future, you'll get better visibility for a question if you post a new topic in the Q&A section rather than respond to a very old one. With the way this part of the website is set up, the topic doesn't get bumped to the top of the list when there's a new reply. Only the users who have already posted in the topic and are still subscribed to it will see a notification that something happened.

The graveyard is a public zone, which means anyone is allowed to look at the cards in it at any time (other public zones include the battlefield, exile, and the command zone). When you activate Scavenging Ooze , you choose one card in any person's graveyard to exile.
