How does Rakdos, Lord of Riots`s ability works when a player leaves the game?
Asked by figurita 8 years ago
Lets say that in my turn I deal 5 damage to all players. with that damage one of those players looses the game. Does the life lost by the player leaving the game still accounts for Rakdoss ability or is it lost due to the opponent no longer existing?

Rakdos, Lord of Riots
Always link the cards in your question, you link cards by writing them like this:
Here's a ruing from Rakdos's gatherer page:
10/1/2012 - Rakdoss last ability cares about the total life lost, not necessarily what an opponents life total is compared to what it was at the beginning of the turn. For example, if an opponent loses 5 life and then gains 10 life in a turn, creature spells you cast will cost 5 less to cast.
It's a slightly different situation than your question, but as you can see, the ability looks not at the players in the game, but at the amount of life lost by those players. If a player leaves the game, the game still remembers that that player was in the game, and the information about that player still exists, so the ability will count any life that that player lost this turn. (Unless that player conceded before losing the life, but that's kind of a dick move.)
Also keep in mind that players can go into negative life totals, so if a player is at two and you hit them with Rakdos, they will go down to negative four and have taken six damage before they died, so Rakdos will make your creatures cost
less to cast, not
. (The Lord of Riots likes overkill.)
