How does Omniscience affect cards with an X mana cost?

Asked by Zeal 12 years ago

If I have Omniscience on the field, and I cast Diabolic Revelation (or something similar), how would it resolve?

Since the value of x is not defined by the card's text, and since you are casting it without paying it's mana cost X must be 0. You search for 0 cards

It is important to note that Omniscience 's effect is a may effect, so you can always choose to pay the actual cost. Right?

@TheHorse: Yes, you have two options in casting a spell when Omniscience is out. Either you pay nothing, and X = 0 for spells that have X in their mana cost, or you can choose to pay the full amount. No partial payment concession is allowed.

Well by that time, if you have enough for Omniscience then you shouldn'y worry about having to front the mana for Diabolic Revelation .

Please, everyone look at Gatherer before asking questions:

"7/1/2012: If the card has X in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as its value."

I just thought that was a rather humorous answer.
