How does Massacre Wurm interact with creature tokens?

If an opponent has some creature tokens on the battlefield with toughness 2 or less and i play a Massacre Wurm to wipe out all of the tokens, would Massacre Wurm 's second ability trigger? do Creature tokens still technically go to the graveyard?
..i'm assuming they do, but i just want to be sure. thank you.

Yes. Let's say your opponent had 5 1/1 Saproling tokens on the battlefield, nothing else, and you played Massacre Wurm . Those tokens get -2/-2 and would go to the graveyard as a state-based action. Once they reach the graveyard, they will cease to exist, but Massacre Wurm would still see them all go to the graveyard, triggering its second ability for each one.
