Hive Mind and Pacts

Asked by ptburnham 12 years ago

Here's the scenario: I have a Hive Mind on the battlefield and I cast Obliterate then Intervention Pact on my turn. Assuming everything resolves my ten opponents copy the pact and lose on each of their upkeeps, leaving me as the last player. My question is, does the game end then or do I also lose if I don't pay the mana needed to not lose from the pact?

As far as I am aware, if you win (i.e. your opponents lose), then the game ends there, your upkeep will never come around. An interesting, if slightly crazy tactic you have there.

I just wanted to be sure about my win con. It's not too crazy, if one wants to take out 10+ opponents in a single shot. Especially while playing politically and appearing to be a psuedo group hug deck. Hive Mind Multiplayer is the deck I'm working on.

Hidden_Blade is right, since you have no opponents left the game ends before your upkeep, making you the winner

The game will end when your last opponent loses, which happens when state-based actions are checked, which is usually at the end of every step. so your opponent will lose during their upkeep step, and the game never progresses to yours
