Goblin Arsonist + Deathtouch

Asked by meecht 12 years ago

If you enchant Goblin Arsonist with Deathtouch would it still have Deathtouch when you choose to have it deal its 1 point of damage to a creature?

For example, you use Deadly Allure on Arsonist and attack with him. The blocking creature dies to DT, and you choose to deal the extra 1 damage to another creature. Would that creature die since that damage comes from Arsonist?

Yes. The game will use the last known information of Goblin Arsonist to determine the nature of the damage its ability will deal. If Goblin Arsonist had deathtouch when it died, the damage its ability will deal will be deathtouch damage.

What then, would be the case if the deathtouch was given by an equipment like Basilisk Collar ?

It wouldn't be any different. Goblin Arsonist does not have deathtouch by default. In the example, it gained deathtouch via Deadly Allure . Basilisk Collar achieves the same effect.

I'm guessing the same is true for Spikeshot Goblin 's activated ability if he were equipped with something like Basilisk Collar ?

Yes, because it's the creature that's dealing the damage, and that creature would have Deathtouch.

You could actually build a deck (I have) That takes cards like goblin arsonist and ashmouth hound, give them deathtouch and put lure on it so you kill everything they have!)
