Geth's Grimoire triggers (just to be sure)

Asked by Munix 12 years ago

If someone discards their whole hand because of something like Reforge the Soul or card:Jace's Archivist would I draw just 1 card or a card for every card that was discarded?

card:Geth's Grimoire.

You will draw a card for every card discarded. It sees every card being discarded and will put a trigger on the stack for each card discarded as soon as a player would receive priority, again.

It triggers on "whenever an opponent discards a card," so you'd draw a card for each card discarded.

One note is that it triggers for each single card and gives you a single card when it triggers. So if you made an opponent discard 5 cards while you controlled a Grimoire, you'd get five separate triggers that each draw you one card. This is rarely significant, but an opponent can add instants to the stack between the triggers if he wants since priority passes between each one, so if there was some reason he wanted to have you draw two cards then cast a spell before you drew the other two, he could.

card:Geth's Grimoire is a separate ability than Reforge the Soul and card:Jace's Archivist. Reforge the Soul and card:Jace's Archivist will cause you and them to discard their hand and draw seven new cards, or the greatest number of cards a play discarded this way. This causes card:Geth's Grimoire's ability to trigger and you will draw cards equal to the number of cards your opponent dicarded.
