Fling and Infect

If you Fling a creature with infect, isn't the damage dealt considered infect damage? At one point that's how I had it explained to me, but I was just corrected and told otherwise. Which is it?

No.

119.3b Damage dealt to a player by a source with infect causes that player to get that many poison counters.

The source of the damage is Fling , not the creature.
