First strike vs First Strike
Asked by Horant 11 years ago
say i have a 5/5 first strike trample and the other guys has a Master of Cruelties what would happen here who hits first if they both have First strike. or do they just deal damage to each other like they didn't have first strike.
They would deal damage at the same time, but before any creatures that do not have First Strike.

The way First Strike works, it creates a second combat damage step before the regular damage step. Only creatures with First Strike (or Double Strike) can deal damage during this extra combat damage step. So both creatures will deal damage at the same time, and both will die to state-based actions after damage has been dealt.
tl;dr they both die.

There are 2 combat damage steps. There's a first-strike step, and there's a regular step. The only difference between them is that the first-strike step happens first.
They would both do damage to each-other at the same time in the first strike damage step, and they would both die.
