Exalted Vigilance and End of Turn
Asked by xzzane 12 years ago
My friend has an issue involving his exalted deck. He thinks that the end of turn is both you and the opponent's turn combined until it goes back to your original turn. The situation os a Priests of Norn attacking with Duskmantle Prowler on the field. Would he keep the exalted bonus all the way until the opponent's turn so he could block with Priests of Norn with the exalted bonus? I'm fairly certain he will lose it, but he wants me to make sure.

Maybe your friend is confused as to what a turn is. A turn is the set of steps and phases - from untap to cleanup - taken by a single player or a single team. Each player or team has its own turns.

Whenever an effect says "until end of turn" it means until the end of the current turn, whoever's turn it is. If an effect is supposed to last through more than one turn, it will specifically say so (ex: Island Sanctuary ). Exalted doesn't carry over across turns.

Yeah, thanks for the input. I told him all of this myself but he was adamant about it so I wanted someone else's opinion to show him. Appreciate it!

until End of Turn mean the end of the turn that that thing happen so the +1/+1 only last on the turn it got it

Ancillary question to this... for cards whose effects are supposed to last through more than one turn, which specifically say so (ex: Island Sanctuary ). What happens if the card is removed prior to its effect ending. Using the example above, you decline to draw a card on your turn, but Island Sanctuary is removed during your opponents turn. Do the effects of Island Sanctuary stop, or persist until your next turn?

Because Island Sanctuary 's triggered ability sets up a static effect that lasts until the end of turn, it doesn't matter whether Island Sanctuary dies.
If the ability were a normal static ability printed on the card itself, then destroying the permanent would end the effect.

The end of the turn is exactly that - the end of the current turn. Whenever an effect ends at a time in another turn, the effect will specify that.
Exalted only lasts until the end of the turn in which it triggered.
