does sidewinder sliver stack?
Asked by moneyj75 12 years ago
my friend has 3 Sidewinder Sliver
out with flanking. she attacks, I blocked with my Tajic, Blade of the Legion
. does the sidwinder ability stack and does that kill my tajic because he is only a 2/2 with indestructible.
so when i block with my tajic, i will get a -3/-3 making me a -1/-1,so does that kill my tajic since he has less than zero, even though he is indestructible.

Yes.
This rule explains what indestructible prevents.
702.12b A permanent with indestructible cant be destroyed. Such permanents arent destroyed by lethal damage, and they ignore the state-based action that checks for lethal damage (see rule 704.5g).
Also this ruling explains what will kill an indestructible creature.
"Being indestructible stops only effects that would destroy the permanent, including destruction due to lethal damage and destruction that doesn't allow regeneration. An indestructible permanent can be exiled, returned to a player's hand, put into a graveyard for having 0 or less toughness, or sacrificed."

Yep only way to kill indestructible creatures is exile or making its toughness less than zero.

@quadspell1: That's not true, sacrifice effects such as Devour Flesh will also ignore indestructibility, and thus make the indestructible creature die.

I always thought flanking was like flying or lifelink, where multiple instances didn't stack and were just redundant.

702.24b If a creature has multiple instances of flanking, each triggers separately.

@abenz419: I can see why you'd think that, but I like to think of it like exalted on Sublime Archangel .
Also see this rule:
702.24b If a creature has multiple instances of flanking, each triggers separately.

Multiple instances of triggered abilities (like Flanking) are always cumulative.

From the gatherer page of Sidewinder Sliver .
Abilities that Slivers grant, as well as power/toughness boosts, are cumulative. However, for some abilities, like flying, having more than one instance of the ability doesnt provide any additional benefit.
Which means that the attacking Sidewinder Sliver with have 3 instances of flanking, and your Tajic, Blade of the Legion will be put into the battlefield after Blocks are declared and SBA's are checked, for having 0 toughness or less.
