Does infect affect planeswalkers?

Asked by hempel 12 years ago

Since creatures with infect deal -1/-1 counters and poison counters, would attacking a planeswalker affect it in any way?

From the Comprehensive Rule book and I quote:

"119.3c Damage dealt to a planeswalker causes that many loyalty counters to be removed from that planeswalker."

And from the reminder text for Infect as found on Glistener Elf :

"Infect (This creature deals damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters and to players in the form of poison counters.)"

As such, Infect still deals damage and thusly removes the appropriate amount of counters from the attacked Planeswalker.

From Scars of Mirrodin mechanics faqs:

"Damage from a source with infect affects planeswalkers normally."
