Does Having Multiple Copies of Tainted Remedy on the Field Increase the Damage Dealt?

Asked by Penga 9 years ago

Tainted Remedy is a new card in Magic Origins, and I was wondering if having multiple copies on the battlefield would replicate it's effect. For example, if I have 2 copies of Tainted Remedy on the battlefield and I cast Rest for the Weary with landfall on my opponent, would it deal 8 damage, or 16?

No. This card is just a modifier card basically, so the card's effect does not end up stacking with multiple copies.

It doesn't stack. Tainted Remedy has a replacement effect. If multiple instances of this effect would apply, the affected player chooses one and applies it. Because the other replacement effects are then inapplicable to the new event, they won't apply. Nor would they do anything additional if they did apply.

Also, the effect does not cause damage. It causes loss of life, which is often a result of damage but is not the same thing.
