Does Bloodthirst Stack?

Asked by NobodyPicksBulbasaur 13 years ago

If I trigger bloodthirst with a Bloodlord of VaasgothMTG Card: Bloodlord of Vaasgoth on the field, and then cast Vampire OutcastsMTG Card: Vampire Outcasts, what happens?

Does the bloodlord's "Bloodthirst 3" ability simply trump the "Bloodthirst 2" on the outcasts, or do the two effects trigger independently?

I'm familiar with the ruling that effects like lifelink don't stack and become redundant if doubled-up.

In this case, I guess I just want to know if "Bloodthirst 3" is technically a different effect than "Bloodthirst 2".

Bloodthirst will stack, to use the term. The outcasts will have Bloodthirst 2, and Bloodthirst 3, and both will apply (this is assuming an opponent was dealt damage this turn) to the outcasts. They will enter with 5 +1/+1 counters, 2 from Bloodthirst 2, 3 from Bloodthirst 3.

Bloodthirst is not a triggered ability. It is a static one.

702.52c If an object has multiple instances of bloodthirst, each applies separately.
