Do planeswalkers-turned-creatures have summoning sickness?
Asked by spacetear 10 years ago
It's my turn. I play the new Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker . I then use his first ability. Since the card entered the field this turn, would the 4/4 flying dragon have summoning sickness? Or since the card entered the field then became a creature through an effect, could it immediately be tapped (to attack or activate some other card's effect)?
It doesn't really matter, because when Sarkhan becomes a creature, he gives himself haste.
That said, if you have not controlled a permanent since the beginning of your last upkeep, and it becomes a creature, it is affected by summoning sickness.

Ah, thank you, I'd forgotten he gives himself haste. Also, thanks for the answers, that helps with several other questions concerning non-creature cards and summoning sickness.

Planeswalkers are affected by summoning sickness if they are made creatures. It's worth noting that Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker gains haste as part of its ability so it will ignore the summoning sickness.
