Do Pack Rat Copies go into your graveyard?

Asked by themanofhat 9 years ago

This is probably a really obvious and common knowledge question but I just can't find the answer anywhere. Do the copies of Pack Rat go into your graveyard? I need to know when adding up creatures in my graveyard.

I assume you're talking about tokens.

Tokens do go to the graveyard, but they cease to exist the next time state-based actions are performed. They also aren't cards, so effects that count cards in graveyards do not count tokens.

Well i guess to clarify my question. Are the copies of Pack Rat considered tokens or copies of the card?

You're not asking the question you mean to ask.

A copy of something is only that: a copy. The copy itself has to be either a card or a token (assuming the copied object is a permanent). It'll be a card if you used something like Clone . It'll be a token if you used Pack Rat 's own activated ability.

Being a token precludes an object from being a card, but not from anything else. Tokens can be copies. In many cases, tokens are copies.
