Do Enchantment Creatures trigger Primeval Bounty
Asked by Trevdawg1998 9 years ago
Primeval Bounty's first two abilities say: "Whenever you cast a creature spell, put a 3/3 Beast onto the battlefield" and "Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, put 3 +1/+1 counters on target creature." If I cast an Enchantment Creature, does that trigger both abilities or just the first one?

So you're telling me that it would only trigger the first ability?

Yes, it only triggers the first ability. A given card can't be both creature and non-creature, it is one or the other.

When you cast an enchantment creature card for its bestow cost it is put onto the stack as a noncreature spell
Bestow
"702.102a Bestow represents two static abilities, one that functions while the card with bestow is on the stack and another that functions both while its on stack and while its on the battlefield. Bestow [cost] means You may cast this card by paying [cost] rather than its mana cost. and If you chose to pay this spells bestow cost, it becomes an Aura enchantment and gains enchant creature. These effects last until one of two things happens: this spell has an illegal target as it resolves and or the permanent this spell becomes, becomes unattached. Paying a cards bestow cost follows the rules for paying alternative costs in rules 601.2b and 601.2eg.

Primeval Bounty
An enchantment creature like Nyxborn Shieldmate is both enchantment and a creature (if cast normally - if bestowed, he is not a creature). The shieldmate normally is, therefore, a creature, and not a non-creature. Something like Font of Vigor could effectively be referred to by a card as a "noncreature enchantment" if it helps illustrate.
The shieldmate cannot be both creature/noncreature, because one requires a specific attribute and the other requires the absence of that attribute.
