Do Enchantment /Creatures still count as creature spells at casting?

Asked by carpecanum 11 years ago

If I cast a spell that will resolve as an enchantment (due to devotion or whatever) will it still count as a creature spell for Animar, Soul of Elements or spells that specifically counter creature spells?

It depends on what you are referring to. If you mean the gods, I believe they will count as a creature spell, although they will only trigger "when a creature enters the battlefield ..." effects if your devotion is high enough. If you mean casting an enchantment creature for its bestow cost, it specifically says that you cast it as an aura spell, so it is not a creature spell. If you cast an enchantment creature normally, it will count as both an enchantment and creature spell.

raithe000 is correct. The gods have a static ability that functions only while they are on the battlefield. They will always be enchantment creatures in all other zones.

Once the Theros FAQ and the CR update are released, it'll be easier to answer questions like this.
