Do AOE spells effect Hexproof/Shrouded creatures?

Asked by Vaati 12 years ago

I was playing a free for all with 3 friends and 1 card had shroud, while another had hexproof. The player that owned them attacked (tapping said creatures) then the next player in the rotation played Sunblast Angel , and the dispute is "are those creatures that have hexproof effected by Sunblast Angels effect?

Thanks everyone. I am almost certain they are immune, but wanted to make sure.

Things like sunblast angel lack the word "target" in their rules text (see also Wrath of God, Day of Judgement). As such, they will destroy/affect hexproof and shroud creatures perfectly fine. Hexproof and shroud only stop targetting, not non-targetting effects.

GoblinsInc is correct. Unless the effect says "target" it doesn't care about shroud or hexproof.
