Djinn Illuminatus and Epic Experiment

Asked by krikkitelder 9 years ago

If I have Djinn Illuminatus out and Epic Experiment , does the Djinn allow me to replicate the spells that were revealed and then cast without paying their mana cost off the Experiment?

Bonus question: If the answer is yes then is the replicate cost equal to their cmc?

Yes you may, and yes it is.

Replicate is an additional cost, not an alternate cost, so you're still able to pay those additional costs when you cast the cards per Epic Experiment . Because Epic Experiment actually uses the word "cast", you still go through all the steps of casting the spell, which includes choosing and paying additional costs.

Sweet, and yes, I realised the 2nd answer about 3 seconds after I submitted the question, since the Djinn says the replicate cost is equal to their mana cost and Experiment only says you may cast them without paying their mana cost. Hence the mana cost is always the same, even though you're only paying 0 for the original thanks to the Experiment.
