Dimensional Breach

Asked by chosenone124 9 years ago

I have some general questions about Dimensional Breach.

The oracle text states "that player returns one of the exiled cards he or she owns to the battlefield." Does this only refer to cards exiled by Breach, or does it refer to any exiled card?

If I am in a multiplayer game, and I lose, do players still get to return cards to the battlefield?

If I exile a manifested sorcery, can I cast it?

  1. The "exiled cards" its referring to are specifically the ones exiled by Dimensional Breach, not cards in exile for some other reason. It would say something like "that player returns a card he or she owns in exile to the battlefield" if it was meant to let the player return anything.

  2. If you cast Dimensional Breach then you control the delayed triggers created by its effect ("at the beginning of each player's upkeep..."). A player who's left the game can't add any spells or abilities to the stack, so that means the other players won't be able to return any more exiled cards.

  3. Dimensional Breach only says you can put the card onto the battlefield, not cast it. Instants and Sorceries can't enter the battlefield, so you can't really do anything with them in this situation.

In the case of 3, does that mean Dimensional Breach will continue triggering indefinitely for the remainder of the game? (of course disregarding cards such as Pull from Eternity)

Technically yes, it will keep triggering, but I can't think of a situation (there may a weird corner case) where triggers with no legal choices will be meaningfully different from no triggers at all.

It should grants you the ability to cast the first spell every upkeep, since the beginning of upkeep trigger grants you priority right?

You do get priority after adding one of your own spells or activated abilities to the stack, but triggered abilities don't work that way. When a triggered ability triggers, it's put onto the stack the next time a player would get priority (that is, whichever player was already supposed to get priority next). If an ability you control triggers at the beginning of an opponent's upkeep then it's put onto the stack when that opponent first gets priority after the upkeep begins.
