Day of Judgement vs. Protection from White
Asked by shifterfox 12 years ago
Protection from White means:D=Protection/Immunity to Damage/Destroy from White sourceE=Enchant/Equip from a White SourceB=Blocked by a White SourceT=Targeted by a White Source
In a sanctioned tournament, several different times, we were told that Day of Judgement?!?!?!! still wipes the card off of the field because A) It doesn't "Target" and B) Its "global".
But Day of Judgement?!?!?!! is a white source that says on it to "Destroy". Does this not get prevented on the Pro-White card...ONLY that card? Everything else would still be destroyed.
I just found the wording to confuse me,

D-damageE-equip or enchantB-blockT-target
pro white creatures can still be destroyed by white spells, so long as it doesn't target them
702.15b A permanent or player with protection cant be targeted by spells with the stated quality and cant be targeted by abilities from a source with the stated quality.702.15c A permanent or player with protection cant be enchanted by Auras that have the stated quality. Such Auras attached to the permanent or player with protection will be put into their owners graveyards as a state-based action. (See rule 704, State-Based Actions.)702.15d A permanent with protection cant be equipped by Equipment that have the stated quality or fortified by Fortifications that have the stated quality. Such Equipment or Fortifications become unattached from that permanent as a state-based action, but remain on the battlefield. (See rule 704, State-Based Actions.)702.15e Any damage that would be dealt by sources that have the stated quality to a permanent or player with protection is prevented.702.15f Attacking creatures with protection cant be blocked by creatures that have the stated quality.
nowhere in there does it say that it cant be DESTROYED by the protected color

The simplest way to remember what protection from XX defends against is DEBT
D - Damage from XX sources is prevented
E - Enchantments and Equipment that are XX can't be attached
B - Creatures that are XX can't Block
T - Spells that are XX or abilities from XX sources can't Target
Like the others have already said, if an effect doesn't do any of these things, like Day of Judgment , then protection doesn't defend against it.

Judgment doesn't have an e after the g. Day of Judgment links to a card while subbing in "judgement" will take you to a deck (with an misspelled title).

okay..for whatever reason..attempting to post the DoJ card link so we all can view it links to a deck instead despite not putting in the ! and ?s...
day of judgement reads "Destroy all creatures."
