Curse of misfortunes and hexproof

If a player gained hexproof with Curse of Misfortunes already attached to them that wouldn't stop me from further attaching curses to them as it is not targeting them anymore right?

Correct. The new curse is put into play attached to the player without targeting them, so hexproof won't prevent it.
