Creatures Vs. Hexproof

Asked by Not_Sure 10 years ago

If Gladecover Scout is in play and the opponent's Kris Mage ability targets the hexproof, would the opponent's creature target still fulfill Hexproof (This creature can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.)? Meaning would the Kris Mage destroy the Gladecover Scout with the tapped/targeted ability, because it is an opponents' creature rather than opponents' target?

Your opponent controls the Kris Mage, and as such, controls the ability of the Kris Mage. So, no, it can't kill the Scout.

There really aren't any round-a-bout ways to interpret the wording. It's just best to just think of it as "if it's an effect that is coming from one of the cards in my opponents deck, it cannot target this creature."

Anything that says "target" is a no.

This should really have been asked in the Rules Q&A which is linked in the top bar. All rules questions go there.

@ChiefBell: If you haven't seen the N+1 other questions mentioning it, the "Ask a Question" button on the Rules Q&A page has been leading to a 404 for the past couple days
