Congregate and Ajani's Pridemate

If I have Ajani's Pridemate and 3 Nosy Goblin and my opponent has nothing. I gain 8 life and does Pridemate get 1 counter or is it I gain 2 life for each creature and Pridemate get 4 counters?

Alright, Thanks since the gatherer didn't really help on this one.

How did Gatherer not help? The first ruling for Ajani's Pridemate says "The ability triggers just once for each life-gaining event, whether its 1 life from Soulmender or 8 life from Meditation Puzzle." and Congregate is one life-gaining event.

JWiley129 Possibly it didn't help because rulings in Congregate
don't specify that it's a single life gain event. Since you get counters for each creature with lifelink even though all damage is dealt simultaneously and the life is gained simultaneously with the damage dealt it is perfectly reasonable for a person to assume that "gaining 2 life for each creature on the battlefield" could mean "X gain life events occur where X is the number of creatures on the battlefield". It doesn't mean that but that's besides the point when it comes to asking questions.
Hostile tone against people who just ask questions is not a good practice.

Draugo - I was not trying to come across as hostile. I merely stated the appropriate ruling from Ajani's Pridemate and continued my question. You may have taken my brevity as hostility, but I assure you that is not the case.

you 8 gain life once for congregate, so only 1 counter.
