Can we response to damage deal?

i have two blockers Ember Hauler and Cunning Sparkmage which block a Wurmcoil Engine , can i response after damage deal to sac the ember and spit from the mage to kill the wurm?

A creature being destroyed from lethal damage is a state based action, and state based actions are checked right before a player would receive priority. That means your creatures will get destroyed before you get a chance to do anything with their abilities if you wait until after damage is dealt.

it all depends on wich combat rules your playing by
the new and offishal rules you can not respond to damage but you can still tap the spark mage after you declare it a blocker but before the damage phase and it will deal the 1 damage before combat damage and still deal combat damage equel to its power witch is 0 and will block all non trample damage if its by its self
but if your blocking with another creature theres no point to block with the spark mage unless you need it dead
the old rule would let you do what you block with ember hauler, sac it after damage is asigned dealing 4 damage to the wurm and you could tap the sparkmage to deal 1 damage to it at any time and you would take no damage from the wurm because it was blocked
however you would still need to deal 1 more damage to the wurm to kill it and it will still have dealt 6 damage to the hauler and the wurms controler would have gained 6 life

No. You can't respond after damage is dealt.
Reason being, (if I'm not mistaken), once damage is dealt, it's already been dealt. You can't stop something that has already happened.
Also even in the current situation, if you could respond in that way, you wouldn't be able to kill the wurm. Ember Hauler would have done 4 and Sparkmage would have done 1.
4+1=5
This happened to me before :p I thought I could kill a Sun Titan this way. lol
