can tap abilities be used after attacking with vigilance?

lets say you gotta sliver deck. one sliver is Synchronous Sliver which gives slivers vigilance. can you attack with it and magma sliver, let the blockers be declared, then in response (before damage is dealt) tap one to beef the other up?

Like Epo said, yes. It is perfectly legal to do exactly what you intend to do. For even more interesting effects, keep in mind that if you did declare both Magma Sliver and Synchronous Sliver as attackers, they still deal combat damage as normal; the fact that the creature normally doesn't tap due to vigilance when attacking and it being tapped doesn't stop it from being declared as an attacker.
For that reason, it is my opinion that Synchronous Sliver is undercosted.

Yes. Activated abilities with the tap symbol in their activation cost can be used at any time that the source is untapped and unaffected by summoning sickness.
Since a creature with vigilance does not need to be tap to attack, you may attack with one and then activate a tap ability of it.
For reference, Synchronous Sliver , Magma Sliver
