Can Silverblade Paladin soulbond with Geist of Saint Traft's Angel?
Asked by rayrayxd 12 years ago
Lets say I have Silverblade paladin and Geist of Saint Traft both unpaired. When I swing with both of them, Can I soulbond the angel with Silverblade Paladin during combat? (Then, it will be unpaired at the end of the turn.)
if you have a way of giving Silverblade Paladin flash via card:Alchemist's Refuge or something else. you can only cast a creature during your main phase. which is before and after combat.

@w999: That doesn't affect the situation at all. Soulbond triggers when either creature enters the battlefield, not just the one with the actual soulbond ability.

it is a very potent combination that usually is in tourneys, mostly U/W human decks

Provided the Paladin isn't already paired with anything, yes, most definitely.

Only correction to be made to the OP's statement is that the angel doesn't survive to the end of the turn, just until the end of combat. Therefore, Main Phase 2, Silverblade Paladin is no longer soulbound and therefore can be attached to something else.

Isn't the definition of soul bound state that it may be rebound whenever another creature enters the battlefield/or current creature is lost?
Does that not indicate then that you can soul bind anything any time as long as a creature is entering the battlefield under your control?
So you don't even need them both to be unbounded, you can re-bind paladin to the angel when you attack. Am I mistaken?

Soulbond means "You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them."
So once Paladin is paired, he remains paired until he or his paired creature leaves the battlefield.

Yes. The Angel is a creature that enters the battlefield (though briefly), so you can soulbond it with Silverblade Paladin .
