No for the first question. You're using Mulldrifter 's evoke ability to sacrifice it, not Culling Dais ' ability.

Depends for the second question. If the creature is dealt lethal damage, it is destroyed before you can sacrifice it with Culling Dais ' ability. However, you can sacrifice the creature after declaring it as a blocker and prior to combat damage being dealt, and the attacking creature will remain blocked after your creature is sacrificed.

Hang on, the sac clause of Evoke is a triggered ability. So it goes on the stack, and you should be able to respond to it with Culling Dais and put a counter on it first.

Ah, good catch Siegfried. That's what I get for answering while in class.

702.71a Evoke represents two abilities: a static ability that functions in any zone from which the card with evoke can be cast and a triggered ability that functions on the battlefield. Evoke [cost] means You may cast this card by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost and When this permanent enters the battlefield, if its evoke cost was paid, its controller sacrifices it.

If you pay the evoke cost, Mulldrifter enters the battlefield and the evoke ability is put on the stack. Before it resolves, you can sacrifice it with Culling Dais ' ability.

So wait would i still get the two cards from the Mulldrifter ? Or am i sacing it before it's ability activates?

When Mulldrifter enters the battlefield, both the card draw ability and the sacrifice ability trigger and are put on the stack. Note the following:

603.3b If multiple abilities have triggered since the last time a player received priority, each player, in APNAP order, puts triggered abilities he or she controls on the stack in any order he or she chooses.

You can stack the abilities so that the card draw ability will resolve first. Also note:

116.3b The active player receives priority after a spell or ability (other than a mana ability) resolves.

Thus, you can have the card draw ability resolve, then, prior to the evoke ability forcing you to sacrifice Mulldrifter , you can activate Culling Dais ' ability and sacrifice Mulldrifter .
