Can i exploit Sidisi's Faithful to return him to my hand?
Asked by Xarabas 10 years ago
I'm trying to build a new deck wich has a Ruthless Deathfang in it. So if i have Ruthless Deathfang, can I play a Sidisi's Faithful, exploit Sidisi's Faithful, return him to my hand before he actually gets sacrificed and do that over and over again, so Ruthless Deathfang triggers every time?
Or is Sidisi's Faithful already in the graveyard when im allowed to return a creature to his owners Hand? Or doesn't Ruthless Deathfang trigger because i didnt really sacrifice a creature?
Help would be very appreciated!
Sidisi's Faithful is already in the graveyard by the time it's trigger resolves. Hell, it's in the graveyard by the time it's trigger gets put on the stack. However, you did really sacrifice a creature, so you will still get to return a creature (on the battlefield) to it's owner's hand.
You should also keep in mind that Sidisi's Faithful's trigger and Ruthless Deathfang's trigger will go on the stack in either order at the same time, and you will have to choose targets for both, so your opponent can choose to sacrifice the creature your trying to bounce if you stack the sacrifice trigger on top. (I'd advise against doing that in most situations.)

Ok, so if my opponent has three creatures and i exploit Sidisi's Faithful i can put the bounce above the sacrifice trigger on the stack and target his weakest creature. Then he will have to return that creature to his hand and afterwards it's his turn to decide which creature he wants to sacrifice when Ruthless Deathfangs ability resolves?
And if i'd place the sacrifice trigger above the bounce i'd have to target the creature which i want to bounce first, so my opponent is able to sacrifice the creature before the bounce resolves and i don't get to choose a new target for the bounce?
Did i get that right?

Can Faithful, after exploiting another creature, choose itself as the target of the bounce?

Yes. Sidisi's Faithful's ability doesn't restrict Sidisi's Faithful from being the target.

No, it would not work as you'd like; Sidisi's Faithful's exploit ability requires you to sacrifice a creature in order for that ability to be placed on the stack. In the case of you sacrificing Sidisi's Faithful to it's own exploit trigger, by the time you are able to choose a creature to return to it's owner's hand, Sidisi's Faithful is already in the graveyard, and is not a legal target for it's own ability.
