Can I combine "monstrous" with Training Grounds?

How does the ability "monstrous" work. Can I lower the costs via Training Grounds?

So Training Grounds reduces the costs to activate abilities on creatures. So if you control a Training Grounds and a monstrosity creature like Nessian Asp, you would only need to pay to activate the monstrosity ability.
