Can Bump in the Night target a planeswalker?
Asked by XYGOZ 12 years ago
Does the "target opponent" line exclude a planeswalker target or can it still be redirected like Skullcrack for example?

Just to clarify the situation a bit more:
You can still redirect to a planeswalker any damage effects that target an opponent. You aren't targeting the planeswalker, so the targeting restriction (opponent) is not relevant. You already targeted an opponent; you're just redirecting the damage to something else.

No, but not for the reason you think. The issue isn't with the wording of opponent, but with the loss of life as opposed to damage. While all damage causes the loss of life, direct loss of life effects do not count as damage. You can redirect damage to a planeswalker, but not loss of life.
